I came at the very tail end of the whole thing, but my impression from reading the people who were there is that it's not so much about the idea of Incarna (although that has its opponents) as the way CCP tried to implement it the first time. I mean, I'm a big fan of what Incarna could be, but the first time I was dropped in the Minmatar CQ, and I watched the slide show as my character moved haltingly around from one non-interactive item to another? That did not leave a positive impression on my newbie self. Since then the CQs and the character rendering have both improved by leaps and bounds, as the performance got better, and that's just made me wish even more that there was some compelling use for all that sweet technology. That, and I don't play a ship; I play a capsuleer.
